OVERVIEW
The sidewalk canopies at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport are an essential component for pedestrians on their journey around the airport. These canopies provide protection from the sun and rain for the travelers and visitors, and, at night, they provide additional lighting for the sidewalk and at the curb for dropping off passengers. Titanstead Construction was chosen to demolish and remove the existing canopy supports between Terminals 1 & 2, Terminals 2 & 3, and Terminals 3 & 4, and then construct 1,210 LF of upper deck canopies reconnecting the Terminals. In addition to replacing the existing canopies, the Terminal 1 roof was extended 150 feet to connect with the new sidewalk canopy. The new canopies included drainage leaders and lighting to assist with visibility, as well as a canopy over the ticket dispensers of the airport economy parking lot.
